Recycled Vintage Moroccan Wool, c. 1980
From the Arabic term ‘bu sherwit’ that translates to a rag or scrap, the colorful palette and patchwork quality of the Boucherouite style of rugs make them an incredible accent to an interior space. Though equally impressive in scale and design, these rugs utilize pieces of wool and emerged from the cultural and economic shift from nomadic herding to modern forms of employment.
This transition made wool harder to come by, thereby inspiring a new art form with captivating patterns and designs, and are available in a wide palette of colors, from the basic to the most bright hues.
